Chitika is a display advertising network that primarily aims to provide advertisements that are relevant to the content.  The big difference is, the ads displayed are driven by the visitor’s search query, not directly by the content on a given page.  Also, similar to AdSense and other ad networks, you are paid per click, which you’re probably very familiar with.

Chitika is a company based out of Westborough, MA and is a primary non-contextual advertising company. In contextual advertising, the publisher script filters the website for keywords and returns advertisements based on that keywords. Google adsense is the market leader in contextual advertising and Chitika being a non-contextual program  is a very good choice along with adsense or an adsense alternative.

Chitika is very good for many websites where adsense results are poor. For example, Chitika can show relevant ads for a site with very few text and lot of video content. Likewise, local sites especially do well with Chitika ads than adsense. This is because Chitika scans the search strings that we used to reach the website.

Chitika is one of the best alternative to Google Adsense, may be you know about it even then I am telling you this to make Chitika Review more effective, because in some countries Like UK, USA, Canada Chitika perform almost equivalent to Google Adsense.

Chitika does not have strict sign up requirement.Even small website or new website can apply for publisher account.They do not take much time to approve my account.But Chitika does have layers of publisher accounts.Best ads are shown to premium publishers (websites with loads of traffic or quality traffic).

Joining with Chitika is easy as publishers and  advertisers from all countries are accepted and there are no restrictions as to the minimum impressions of the site. Chitika puts your website under three levels which are Gold, Silver and Bronze. Gold has tier 1 advertisers , Silver has tier 2 advertisers and Bronze has tier 3. The levels are determined by the impressions your website makes

Chitika is compatible with Google Adsense. You do not have to make any changes to your Adsense layout nor to Chitika ads to make them work together.They are compatible out of box.In fact it is claimed that using Chitika along with Adsense increases earnings.The reason cited is competition between the ad networks.Some people do complain lower Adsense CTR after using Chitika.So you might have to place them on your website and then decide the result.

Chitika does offer very simple and easy to use interface.The reporting is decent.They report traffic and clicks along with eCPM and your earning for each day.The data is also broken geography wise.But you will not get URL based reporting.But that does not is big drawback as majority of advertising networks provide this much details only.

Chitika has low minimum payout threshold.The minimum payment threshold is $10 if payment method is PayPal.The minimum payment threshold is $50 if check payment method is selected.

Chitika referral program

Chitika offers referral program.You can earn 10% of your referral earning for 15 months.But the referral stats is not updated until referral is paid once.This is one area they should work on.Other advertising networks do show referral stats whether they have made money or not.

Conclusion

At the end of the review, our conclusion is the non-contextual advertising company Chitika can be a fairly good choice for people who has product based blogs and also for general websites. Since they scan the search strings that we used to reach the website, they are able to outperform adsense for websites containing video content and having little text. Their ad format is unique and have great aesthetics, and their payout is at 10$. Considering all this, Chitika is a good choice.
